Belfast faces increasing risks from flooding, heat stress, and extreme weather, particularly in vulnerable neighbourhoods. At the same time, the city is advancing efforts to create a greener, healthier, and more inclusive urban environment.
In JustREACH, Belfast builds on existing participatory planning and co-design practices. Collaboration between residents, public authorities, researchers, and civic organisations supports the development of community-led and nature-based adaptation measures. The city also contributes to shared learning across the project by exchanging experience with other pilot regions.
