Last week, the JustREACH consortium gathered in Zagreb for the project’s General Assembly, organised and hosted by the North West Croatia Regional Energy and Climate Agency (REGEA). Over two days, partners discussed updates from their work packages and planned the next steps, with a particular focus on the impact of the project. Partners from different disciplines offered each other feedback and ideas, helping to strengthen the connections between the project’s different work packages.
A central theme of the meeting was impact. JustREACH brings together researchers working from modelling and AI tools to stakeholder engagement, but the project’s value ultimately depends on whether its results can be used in practice. Partners discussed how to make sure the outputs serve those who deal with climate adaptation on the ground.
To see what impact can look like in practice, REGEA also organised a site visit showing how projects can make a tangible difference in citizens’ daily lives. Zagreb, recognised as the greenest capital in the EU by the European Environment Agency, is embarking on the initiative to enhance its green spaces and achieve climate neutrality, which made it an inspiring setting for the discussions.
As part of the meeting, partners also joined a local co-creation workshop with Zagreb stakeholders, who shared their views on climate adaptation challenges and priorities in the city. These perspectives will feed into the next phase of the project.
We thank REGEA for hosting us and for their excellent organisation!
