On 7 October 2026, JustREACH participated in the webinar “CAPs Evolving: AI & Climate Adaptation Platforms – Preparing for What's Next”, bringing together climate adaptation experts, platform developers and practitioners to explore the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into climate adaptation platforms.
Co-organised by the Climate Adaptation Platforms Thematic Working Group, a core collaborative space within the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change Community, the event marked the first in a new webinar series exploring the future of AI and climate adaptation platforms.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing how people discover and use climate adaptation information. As AI tools become more widely used, climate adaptation platforms need to consider how they can make the most of these technologies while continuing to provide reliable, trusted, and up-to-date information.
The session featured short presentations from established platforms, including Climate-ADAPT, PANORAMA and weADAPT, showcasing existing approaches and emerging opportunities for AI-supported climate adaptation knowledge sharing and decision-making.
Through dedicated breakout discussions, participants exchanged experiences and collaboratively identified technical challenges and opportunities associated with AI integration. These discussions will help inform a shared long-term vision for the climate adaptation platforms community through 2027.
JustREACH contributed to these exchanges, bringing its perspective on the importance of ensuring that emerging digital tools and AI-supported platforms respond to the needs of diverse communities and stakeholders.
The webinar provided an opportunity to connect with other initiatives working at the intersection of climate adaptation, digital innovation and knowledge sharing, while contributing to ongoing collaboration within the EU Mission Adaptation Community.
